Category
This notice serves as a reminder of key requirements and features of the Arizona Controlled Substances Prescription Monitoring Program (CSPMP).
Mandatory Use:
- As a prescriber, you are required to pull a patient report before prescribing a C2, C3, or C4.
- If you dispense controlled substances, you must report these dispensations daily to the CSPMP.
CSPMP/EHR Integration:
Consider integrating your EHR system with the CSPMP to enhance efficiency by eliminating the need for separate log-ins, reducing system time-outs, and simplifying compliance with patient look-up requirements.
State Indicators (Clinical Alerts):
Be aware that the CSPMP generates clinical alerts to identify potential risk situations, including:
- Patients receiving over 90 MME (milligram morphine equivalents) per day.
- Patients receiving overlapping benzodiazepine and opioid prescriptions.
- Patients with patterns of seeing multiple prescribers and pharmacies.
These indicators are visible on patient reports, and prescribers may receive email notifications.
Please ensure you are utilizing the CSPMP effectively to promote patient safety and comply with state regulations.
